I have been creating in some capacity since early childhood. To ask me why I make art is to ask what my reason for living is. Creation.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is actually somewhat personal. I create art that tells a story, most of the time the story is about things that have transpired in my internal world. I enjoy making art that makes one think about their place not only in the cosmos but in themselves as well. I enjoy making art that is romantic as well as ethereal. I enjoy making art that expresses strength in the feminine and the feminine role in spirituality and life.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in artists of the past and in human history. I’m deeply moved by stories of all different religions and walks of faith. I’m especially drawn to practices and tales from the past. I hold these things in such reverence. I also draw inspiration from nature and animals. Especially our ancient relationship to the earth, it’s plant life, and its creatures.
What would you do with $25,000?I’m currently trying to start my own art business. I don’t come from a particularly privileged background so I work full time while trying to get it off the ground. This money could be the nest I need before flying. This money would go right back into my art work and most likely my studio. I am bursting out at the seems in my current studio and find it hard to find space to create all that I want to. This money would fix all of that.
