What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite type of art to create is couture mixed media, blending fabrics and found objects into pieces that challenge perception and tell layered stories.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in hidden African American history, architecture, and deep research—woven into my lived experiences and transformed into storytelling through my fashion lens.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would create a powerful collection to present at NYFW to propel my career forward without financial strain. For over seventeen years, I’ve poured into youth, teens, and adults through my nonprofit, Lovely’s Sewing & Arts Collective—teaching sewing as a trade skill often dismissed as a hobby. I’ve spent most of my life taking care of others—now it’s time to pour more light into myself. As an underpaid artist and teacher, this support would give me the space to breath and create as I impact.
