Keith Klein

I love that art has the power to stop people, make them think, inspire them, or allow them to see something that appeals to their senses.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I move in phases. At times it’s photography. At other times it’s making bracelets. And There are days where I just feel like painting. I enjoy all the different mediums. My last eight paintings have focused more on the contemporary side of art.

Where do you find inspiration?

I’m inspired by the idea that art does not have to be confined by rules. So I love exploring that freedom on a canvas — building depth, movement, and texture in ways that allows each viewer to experience the work differently.

What would you do with $25,000?

If selected as The People’s Artist, I would use the $25,000 prize to continue expanding my work as a contemporary artist and invest further into creating larger, more ambitious pieces. And being featured in ArtForum would be an incredible opportunity to introduce my work to a broader audience and continue growing as an artist. My dream would be getting a commission to do a very large piece of my contemporary artwork for display on a celebrity’s wall or the lobby of an office building.
