Creating my art is my kind of therapy...it keeps me looking forward to the next thing, the next discovery, the next joyful moment.

I love to create still life. I grow all my own flowers for my pieces and I attract as many birds to my yard in order to photograph them for various pieces. I use only my own photos in my composite pieces. I use photoshop to combine my various images into new ideas and expressions. In addition to still life, I love doing portraits with dramatic light like those of Vermeer and Rembrandt.
Where do you find inspiration?I absolutely love the art of the old Dutch masters of the 17th century. I love the realism and the dramatic chiaroscuro light. I like putting my own somewhat modern spin on a gorgeous still life or landscape. The same drama of light and subject can be applied to the art of photography to make portraits, landscapes and still life look like they were created hundreds of years ago.
What would you do with $25,000?I would make my flower garden bigger! And build a small studio which would enable me to do more portrait work in a dedicated space.
