Tattoos are rarely considered a medium in art competitions, I get to bring peoples passions to life and they carry it with them forever
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’m drawn to creating dark, fantastical, eerie, slightly sinister but still beautiful art. Most of my work leans into black and gray realism, especially large scale pieces like back pieces and leg sleeves. Lately, I’ve been really focused on building full narratives by creating a story first, then designing a tattoo that brings it to life. I love when a piece feels immersive, emotional, and a little haunting, like it holds meaning beyond just the image.
Where do you find inspiration? Some of my biggest inspirations are Bram Stoker, Guillermo del Toro, Stephen King, and Tim Burton. Dracula was honestly my first love. I read it in 5th grade & still come back to it (I even have a whole sleeve for it). I’m drawn to dark, eerie, fantastical worlds that still feel rich and intentional. Del Toro’s dark yet colorful symbolism, King’s psychological depth, and Burton’s haunting but playful visuals all shaped how I see and create art.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d reinvest it straight into my craft and studio by upgrading equipment, elevating the space, and investing in more education. I’d also buy myself time to take on a few large scale, fully creative projects with no limitations to push my work further. I am really loving these new story based projects I’ve been working on, and would love to continue to do it without limitations. I also am expanding my art and painting more to help improve my craft as a whole. This would give me the space to do it
