I create beadwork to honor my culture, tell stories, and keep traditions alive through every piece I make with good energy & prayers.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create handmade Indigenous beadwork, focusing on detailed patterns and meaningful designs. My work is deeply influenced by my grandmother and great-grandmother, who were pottery makers, and I carry their creativity into a different medium. Each piece reflects culture, story, and tradition, while also expressing my own voice through color and design using shells & varied bead forms.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in my culture, traditions, and the stories passed down through generations. Nature, community, and everyday life also influence my designs. Colors, patterns, and symbols all hold meaning, and I draw from these elements to create beadwork that reflects both heritage and personal expression. I find inspiration in my culture, my family, and the traditions passed down through generations.
What would you do with $25,000?I would invest in materials and tools to grow my beadwork practice and create more detailed, meaningful pieces. I’d also dedicate time to expanding my skills and sharing my work with a wider audience. Honoring my family’s artistic legacy, I would use part of the funds to help preserve and pass on these traditions within my community & communities across turtle island.
