I create to tell the story of my people in a different light. The visuals of African Americans can be bright and colorful as well.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Portrait pop art. I love seeing my people viewed through a different lens. I take pride in knowing that Im leading the charge to change the narrative of Black culture in America.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere. If I'm watching a good documentary, I can draw inspiration from that. I gather old magazines and thumb through pages for hours. I can take a ride on the bus and listen to people laugh and talk: The outfits, the mannerisms, the overall aura attracts me. Black culture is American culture, so its wrapped up in everything.
What would you do with $25,000?I want to travel and paint on other continents. Introduce others to the America I grew up adoring. Learn from other artists outside the U.S. and make lifelong friendships. Purchase quality art supplies and recording equipment for streaming and vlogging. Turn my living space into an artists paradise.
