I only ever truly feel fulfilled and content if I’m in the midst of planning out, working on, or finishing up a design. I can’t not create.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I’m never sure exactly what specific genre to label my work as, but I love making low-brow psychedelic / surreal-ish art with bits of abstract mixed in. I love combining realistic recognizable chunks of human anatomy / animals parts / flora / random objects together with nonsensical lines / blobs / patterns / shapes in a way that feels cohesive when finished.
Where do you find inspiration? There’s inspiration in literally everything. Common things like the lyrics or instrumentation in a song, the theme or aesthetic in a good movie, an interesting idea or character in a book, the style and technique seen in another artist’s work, a visually pleasing meal. All the way down to, “oh that’s a nice looking rock, I’ll add it to the piece I’m working on” or “hmm that chunk of stucco on the ceiling looks kind of like a ______, I think I’ll draw it.”
What would you do with $25,000?That amount of money would be a major support in being able to get and maintain a tattooing apprenticeship in the near future. Of course I’d also love to experiment with a few new materials and mediums, and I’ve got plenty of markers that have dried out and need replacing.
