Creating art for me is more of a spiritual practice and form of self-expression, using my emotional nature & intuition as guidance.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art would have to be abstract expressionism. It is an art form that usually gets the most “hate”, so to speak, often receiving remarks like “is that even art” or “a child could make that”. Those who truly accept art for what it is appreciate the abstract construct and even the process itself. Abstract expressionism speaks for the artist, but it can also create a different narrative for the viewer - two perspectives, one painting.
Where do you find inspiration?I find the most inspiration within. Before I start a new canvas, I like to tap into how I’m feeling and from there I decide the main color scheme. Everything else from brush strokes to the tools I use all come from intuition. Painting outside is my ideal environment. Taking moments to listen to the birds, the wind, the trees rustling, it all plays a role into the final product of my creations.
What would you do with $25,000?I would take a portion of it and collaborate with small businesses in my community to create an event that gives back to those in need. I’d save some of it to help support my family as a single mom and find a way to invest a small portion for the future. My parents have always sacrificed for the family, so I’d love to return the love and show my appreciation. I’m finishing my Bachelor’s degree, so a small portion could go towards that as well.
