Needle felting is definitely one of my top favorite ways of creating art. Many of my ideas first appear as 3D characters in my mind, and needle felting lets me bring them to life in the most magical way. I love sculpting wool into expressive little beings that feel so alive they practically tell their own stories. It’s tactile, meditative, and so incredibly rewarding.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from a lifelong love of whimsy, fantasy & imagination. As a mother to a toddler, my daughter is a constant source of ideas. Inspiration comes from the books we read together, the silly stories we make up and games we invent. Her sense of wonder reminds me daily to play and create. I’m also drawn to bright, joyful colors and lots of sparkle, which always find their way into my needle felted characters. I always hope the love and sense of adventure I feel comes through my cr
What would you do with $25,000?It’s hard to even imagine such an incredible gift! With the $25,000 prize, I would begin to create some of the larger scale sculptures I’ve been dreaming about. I'd also be able to carve out more dedicated time for my art each day. Balancing full-time work and being a mom to a toddler makes consistent creative time really difficult. This prize would ease some financial pressure, allowing me to better care for my family while investing more energy into my passion
