I want my art to show sense of reality, a sense of color, and emotion and joy. I love to create something that immerses and captivates.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create has bold colors, gentle blends, and contrast. I love creating landscapes and seascapes because they allow me to play with both warm and cool color palettes, and offer the opportunity to use different techniques to build the image. I really enjoy blending the right colors and including the right amount of texture and distance in a painting to give the image some depth and luminosity.
Where do you find inspiration?I am a sky watcher; I'm a "look at the moon," or "look at that sunset" type of person. The sky creates the most beautiful organic art and I strive to replicate that. I also find inspiration in American art-- particularly the Hudson River School style of painting scenic art, and the mid-century modern sort of pop and color and geometry. Mostly, I draw inspiration from the beauty in everything. If it's pretty, I want to recreate it.
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, I could change my life and the lives of those around me. That amount of money would provide me with the opportunity to purchase art materials to create on a higher level. It would also afford me with the opportunity to share with my family and my community-- not just art, but experiences. I could put it to use in building a creative space as well, that could be a place for creation and showcase. I could continue doing what I love, with care and devotion without financial worry.
