I create art because it quiets the chaos in my head. Because messages need to be heard and beauty needs to be seen
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite art to create is watercolor and India ink wildlife—especially ocean and coastal creatures. I love how gentle washes and clean linework can make an animal feel present and personal, like you’re meeting it instead of just looking at it. If my work leaves someone feeling softer toward nature—more protective, more connected—that’s everything.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in Morro Bay—where the ocean is never the same twice. The fog, the tide lines, the shifting light, and the wildlife (otters, birds, seals, all the quiet little survivors) fill me up with wonder. I watch and study them in real life, then use watercolor and India ink to capture that feeling—so someone else can fall in love with the natural world, too.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d use the $25,000 to create long-term stability for my two boys. They’re autistic, and consistency and safety aren’t just nice—they’re essential. I’d put it toward securing a stable place for them to live and covering the practical supports that keep life steady, so after I’m gone they have security, continuity, and peace.
