work primarily within realism, often integrating subtle elements of abstraction to create added depth and visual interest. My preferred mediums are oil and pastel, which allow me to explore both richness of color and expressive nuance. As a commissioned artist, I’ve engaged with a diverse range of subjects and stylistic requests, a process that has naturally expanded my versatility. This experience has also led me to produce science fiction and surreal works for other artists.
Where do you find inspiration?I create portraits that honor the lived details of a person’s face and hands, where each wrinkle and callus records a life of work, love, and memory. Through careful observation and technique I reveal the dignity, resilience, and tenderness present in those marks, inviting viewers to see beauty in experience. It brings me great joy to witness a subject or their family light up when they see a finished piece; that moment affirms the purpose of my work. Living and working in the American South.
What would you do with $25,000?Buy more supplies ,pay off some bills and fix my garage into a space where I can get lost in my paintings and trying new techniques or even invent a new technique, I am always thinking of new ways to be creative.
