I create art because I have to. It helps me make sense of the world and what’s inside me. Beauty, pain, joy. It means everything to me.

I like to create art that centers around things that many people may be uncomfortable with. Death is a big one. We are very much detached from it in the modern world. We only talk about it when we're forced to. It wasn't always so. I use symbolism and whimsy to make subjects that might be taboo, a bit more approachable and manageable in my own mind.
Where do you find inspiration?I find old fairytales, ancient religions and folklore so magical and inspirational. Catholic imagery and the old cathedrals of Europe have this great spooky ethereal feel that as a goth kid growing up, I've always loved. I have also done mehndi for years which has had an enormous influence in the design and flow of my work.
What would you do with $25,000?I would get the home I grew up in out of a reverse mortgage that my parents got into. It has such a special place in my heart. It's big, open, and full of nature. I want to be able to leave it to my raise my daughter there and leave it to her when I'm gone.
