Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

Collages and illustrations are my concentration of work. I enjoying researching images and topics to convey a narrative. I mesh the images together for the symbolism; this allows for an open interpretation of the pieces. The pieces are often powerful representations of issues that I have dealt with.

Where do you find inspiration?

In my culture and daily life; issues such as death, intimate relationships, self esteem and political analysis. These driving forces move me spiritually and physically to create work. I am a very angry person and that anger motivates me to produce a positive outlet. I read a lot of books, go out with my friends, work, have my relationship with my partner, be a daughter, tia and sister to my family have helped take care of family members as they are older and or passing. All of this inspires me.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would help myself so that I can help others. This would allow me to continue working on projects. I have a “day job” that helps support my artistic adventures and help me live. This money would also give me some more artistic freedoms such as hosting work shops, or events for children in my area. I have been an art instructor here in my community doing freelance classes. Usually paying for material on my own. So this would be a great help!
