I am a full time Funeral director and art allows me space to process the heavy emotions and gives me a way to bring light into darkness.

Mixed media is where my creativity feels most alive. I’m fascinated by the tension between hard and soft, light and dark. Through layers and unexpected materials, I try to create pieces that spark curiosity—art that people don’t just see, but almost feel compelled to touch.
Where do you find inspiration?I discovered real freedom when I stopped trying to “make art” and instead allowed myself to play. The creative process, with all its messiness and mistakes, became part of the inspiration. Ideas often emerge in unexpected moments—while wandering through an art museum, walking a historic street, traveling somewhere unfamiliar, or simply listening to a beautiful song.
What would you do with $25,000?This award would allow me to invest in both experimentation and education. I would expand my access to materials so I can continue exploring layered, mixed-media work and push my creative boundaries through play and discovery. In addition, I would dedicate a portion of the funds to professional development—participating in workshops and learning directly from established artists whose guidance would help shape the next stage of my artistic growth.
