As a neurodivergent person who has faced various traumas my art has helped me survive and create purpose/meaning from the pain. (+activism)

(My stage name is Garner) I perform spoken word poetry within a mixed media film - the spoken word is center stage and the film is like a moving painting. I have an MFA in creative writing therefore just as I chose to study it for much of my life- writing is always the central but I have a minor in interdisciplinary arts and I have competed in slam competitions for 10 plus years so I feel this all comes together to create a unique type of art piece with my personal stamp on it.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in life around me whether it be positive energy in my child and as an educator in hoping for the bright futures of my students or whether it also be in darker subjects involving suffering, fighting fascism/oppression, medical conditions, and much more - the poet must find inspiration in both the dark and the light and find a way to inspire others & change others and make others feel. What would you do with $25,000?It would go into making more art, art that can hopefully change our world and fight fascism. My little family has faced poverty and my recent job loss from disability discrimination but a significant part of this would go into making a poetry film utilizing cast, sound artists, and the equipment. Another portion would go toward a poetry and visual arts based video game I am creating with my husband.
