Growing up it was rare to find me doing anything besides drawing, building, or creating something. I've always had a deep need to create.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I find myself fascinated with the relationship people have with viewing a work of art, and the lens of perception with which they view the world. That this experience is as much of a self-reflection, feeling, belief, and understanding—as it is a discernment of the art itself. In my work, I aim to capture a feeling that leaves as much space as possible for the viewer to reflect this notion of themself into what they see—like a misplaced sense of nostalgia.
Where do you find inspiration? My paintings are often based on old photographs I find—little glimpses of moments long forgotten. Abstracted and further removed from their context, I try to create a sense of familiarity, like a dream you can’t quite remember.
What would you do with $25,000?This would give me the financial freedom to becoming a full time artist.
