I love painting because it is a wordless language spoken through the sculpting of colour and light.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I paint large-scale, saturated worlds in thick paint of landscapes both built and wild-- interiors of domestic space, illuminated houses you walk by at night, and tangled wild forests-- a blend of spaces intersected together that carry the weight of human presence.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the rugged, raw, and quietly intense moments of everyday life, from broken windows to wild dogs or empty homes. I am most interested where an action has been forstalled, the pregnant moment of ambiguity that an empty chair, or a half-finished glass of wine can suggest.
What would you do with $25,000?After paying some essential bills, with $25,000 I would embark on a project I have been planning for almost 2 years, an ambitious mural-sized painting consisting of 12 separate panels that tells a deeply personal story through abstracted and intersected landscapes.
