I love manifesting ideas from my mind, using natural materials & their possibilities, to surprise & delight people, often in unusual places!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I particularly love making giant lanterns - ships, animals and more - often with performative elements; and I'm endlessly inspired by ideas of time & tide, expressing how rock and salt water interact at the shore and negotiate with each other. I find the endless interplay between the two teaches me so much about the world and myself in it. I'm inspired in this space to create unique 2D works with slate, feather, shells & flotsam; natural objects that express new ideas.
Where do you find inspiration?I am endlessly inspired by the shore and the cliffs, on the north coast of Cornwall & Devon in the UK where I live. These natural spaces are so inspiring to me in so many ways - their scale, the different kinds of timescale one can experience there, and the inherent change they express, that are so un-human but will always teach us more about ourselves if we allow them to.
What would you do with $25,000?This money would enable me to create some truly wonderful new work, to share with a far wider public than I have to date, reaching amazing new audiences and achieving ambitious and inspiring new goals for & in my art. It would take the pressure off so much through supporting my time designing, creating and sharing new work, and the materials and other costs relating to this work.
