I create to explore dreams, identity, and the liminal spaces between worlds.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I chase movement, mystery, and texture. I love using a dip quill for ink, like with the feather and everything. It feels ancient and wizardly! I love layering it over watercolor, which flows and dries however it wants. The accidents are the best part. Across all my work I'm after flowing lines, intricate compositions, and the joy of experimenting.
Where do you find inspiration?Nature, ancient cultures, myths, and the places where the real and unreal bleed together. I studied archaeology originally because I am drawn to the connections between people across time and I think it reflects in my work. I'm captivated by everyday magic, like blooming flowers, fireflies, and moonlight on water. My work exists in liminal spaces where the fantastical and the grounded are woven intricately.
What would you do with $25,000?It would help launch Star Sail Studios, an art business dream of the "third space" that would feature local artists and provide a place for them to host classes and build community. Ideally, it would be a network that can offer affordable classes to the local community. I'd like to also work with local STEM, environmental, and education groups to bridge the gap between art and science education.
