What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite art to create is cornhusk dolls. Rooted in Cherokee culture, they connect to stories of survival, memory, and community. Each doll is narrative-driven, shaped by personal experiences, cultural stories, and history. Using materials like cloth, leather, and glass beads, I create figures that hold emotion and presence. These dolls become vessels for storytelling, healing, and connection—for myself and for those who experience the work.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in personal memory, Cherokee stories, and the lived experiences of my community. I’m drawn to moments of resilience, survival, and connection—past and present. Childhood, family, and cultural teachings guide my work, along with the materials I use. Inspiration often comes through reflection, storytelling, and the quiet process of making.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I would build a stronger foundation for my studio—creating space to fully return to ceramics while continuing my work in cornhusk doll making. This support would allow me to invest in essential materials and equipment, deepen my narrative-driven practice, and create new work rooted in story and memory. It would also expand my ability to offer meaningful, consistent workshops centered in healing, culture, and connection.
