When I get a strong inspiration that I know will affect people’s hearts, I must give birth to it; once I’m pregnant with it I have no choice
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create colorful, original backgrounds and then make figures and often architecture out of clay and fix them to the canvas to bring the idea into 2 dimensions; I use magnets so the pieces can be removed for easier transport
Where do you find inspiration? In experiences I’ve had. “Cafe font del Gat” was inspired by an experience I had when I was eight growing up in Franco’s Spain; Catalan had been forbidden in public and I was singing a song called Baixant de la Font del Gat on the beach and two of Franco’s Civil guards arrested me; they wanted to know where I had learned that because I was clearly American. It would touch the Catalonian people‘s hearts to know there’s a foreigner that remembers that. The cats are refugee Catalonian Artists.
What would you do with $25,000?Oh my God, I would buy so much clay, paint, and canvas!!! I don’t really sell my work. I make it out of love and deliver it. The sculpture I delivered to the Pentagon I asked them to dedicate it to the Goldstar Mom and Dad; and fly the 82nd crew in for the dedication; so plain fare to deliver my pieces to the people🏄♂️
