What is your favorite type of art to create?

I’m drawn to black and white pen drawings, particularly those featuring space and skeletons. These subjects transcend gender norms, embodying a sense of universality and allowing for free expression. I’ve also experimented with colored drawings, often in a surreal or trippy manner. In terms of painting, I find solace in capturing the essence of the beach and the waves, as they evoke a sense of belonging in my small town.

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from the things I love. My art helps me cope with my mental health struggles and the challenges I face. I find joy in seeing how my art prompts people to sit and reflect. At the assisted senior living facility where I work in the activities department, I create many drawings for the daily board. These drawings bring immense happiness to the residents, and I take pride in knowing that I can brighten someone’s life, even though they’ve experienced far more than I have.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I would be able to support my mom with her house, invest in the art supplies and creative space I need, and continue building my skills as an artist. I would also give back to the elderly people I work with daily, who mean so much to me. Most importantly, this opportunity would help me move closer to my dream of becoming a full-time artist, which I’m not able to pursue fully right now.
