My favorite type of art to create is a mix of realism with the visible paint strokes; giving it a sense of life while showing the effort it took for that piece. I favor acrylics because each stroke feels bold, visible, and intentional. Each painting feels like a puzzle and every stroke of paint is a piece closer to the final image.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from my experience as a woman, a wife, a mother, and all the titles that I carry with me through life. I find inspiration in the beauty of nature and the beauty of humanity and the human form. Sometimes I even find inspiration through darker sides of humanity, sometimes just as an observer, and the deep emotion that comes from those depths.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won, I would use a portion as a donation to support the arts in my city, Westerville, OH, and then with the remainder I would put it towards opening my own studio and showcasing not just my work, but local artists work as well. Id like to share my love of painting with the community and give them a platform for their expression.
