Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I create large-scale figurative oil paintings inspired by dreams, nightmares, memory, and the emotional complexity of womanhood. My work depicts ethereal women carrying the weight of my nightmares more gracefully than I can, suspended in clouds beside light, flowers, and animals within surreal, liminal spaces. I balance softness and beauty with darker undertones, exploring resilience, grief, femininity, and transformation through work shaped by dreams and human connection.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in dreams, memory, nature, and the tension between beauty and darkness. Growing up in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina shaped the atmosphere of my work through mist, shifting light, and wilderness. I’m inspired by mythology, silver linings, and the subconscious mind. Most of my paintings begin as fragments of nightmares or emotions I cannot express any other way, transformed into surreal spaces balancing softness, grief, and resilience.

What would you do with $25,000?

With $25,000, I would fully invest in expanding my studio practice and creating a new body of large-scale paintings for exhibition. It would allow me to purchase materials, secure studio space, document my work professionally, and dedicate uninterrupted time to painting. Even fund my own solo show!! I currently live on $25,000 a year, so this would be a truly life-changing opportunity, one that would profoundly impact both my practice and my future as an artist.
