My first thought upon waking is art. My last thought before sleep is art. Most thoughts in between are about art. To me, creativity is all.

Oil painting is my chosen medium after trying several modes of expression from singing/songwriting to stained glass and creative writing. And I LOVE painting portraits, although landscapes and still life’s occasionally vie for (and win) my attention. But faces? Certain images just speak to me to be brought to life and I heed the call. It’s exciting to push my own creative boundaries at the easel and to experiment with color.
Where do you find inspiration?Faces and figures are by far my biggest inspiration right now. I began painting 4 years ago after a long career as a nurse. I’ve seen faces express every conceivable emotion in my profession and felt humanity in each one. They all tell a story, one unique and heartfelt; influenced and influencing. It’s all of it, the joy, pain, fear and love that I want to capture and share. I believe that we find ourselves through the eyes of others.
What would you do with $25,000?With 25K I would invest in my business of art by creating a photography studio in my home for photo shoots. This would include equipment, props and costumes that would allow me to stage some of my more creative ideas for painting. It has also cost quite a bit to get started as an artist, so I would apply some of those funds directly toward my business account to cover expenses.
