Lela Moody

It’s hard for me to put most of my feelings into words so I draw them or capture the image that makes me feel at peace.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I really enjoy just the plain and simple pencil art. You can do anything with a pencil. You can make anything from a silly little doodle to a masterpiece with just one pencil. I’ve tried other ways to make art and none of them really stuck with me. Something about the way a pencil slides across the paper or how the shading looks after that final touch. I may be one of few that still draw with pencil, I really don’t know. Even if I am, I don’t mind the thought of that.

Where do you find inspiration?

I can find my inspiration from just about anything. All I do is look at something and think to myself, “That would be really interesting to draw.” Or “Gosh. That’s picture worthy.” Although I don’t have much time to create art anymore, I still get those thoughts quite often. I do enjoy drawing either spooky/ creepy creations or hyper realistic art, such as as hands or eyes.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would donate $5,000 to B.A.C.A., Bikers Against Child Abuse, an organization that helped me through a very challenging time of facing my stepfather in court for what he did to me. I just remember feeling at peace when the group was around me. I want other children to feel at peace when they’ve had to stay strong for so long. As for the rest of the $20,000, I would divide in a trust fund for my daughter, a savings account for emergency funds, and costs for culinary classes and certification.
