I find art to be my mirror, I love art because it helps me self reflect, and in turn, share my feelings and individuality with the world.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is vivid commentary on parts of my life that are more meaningful to me. For example, I have created many pieces revolving around hockey, because by playing all the time, it has become part of my identity. I have used media from charcoal and graphite all the way to gouache and oil paint to explore a vast range of emotions.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration through my most complex and difficult emotions such as pride, obsession, and frustration. As I experience these emotions I begin to create imagery that exemplifies them. Through this method, I can process and learn from my response to difficulty. My artwork is a therapeutic experience of self reflection. In viewing my art, I hope others find perspective in their own difficult experiences.
What would you do with $25,000?My immediate thought is to invest in my future. I have already been accepted to a game and interactive media design program at Michigan State where I will use my creativity in something I am passionate about. I would spend the $25,000 to assist in paying my tuition and also donate some of my earnings to my local schools to support young artists in my community.
