To me, the artistic practice is a direct rebellion against an anomic society – the creation of art is a radical, introspective, and collaborative act. I channel lived experience by integrating glass, steel and electricity into sculptures that convey themes of science and society. It is important that the action of my process is both seen and felt in the final product. I love to create art that provides a moment of contemplative thought and an impactful feeling of personal connection.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration blends science and science fiction. I'm moved to create art about the condition and perception of life, to make sense of the present through abstraction and action. Every creation is an externalization of myself, filtered through a lens of personal history. The relationships between real and fictional technologies provide me with endless inspiration.
What would you do with $25,000?I’m from a town in NE Ohio and as a recent graduate, this money would provide a significant opportunity to invest in the start of my career. Financial support would help me relocate, find my place in an artistic community, and access the glass and metalworking equipment I need to continue my work. Art is resistance, a platform for change. I want my art to spark momentum, and your support is fuel to that fire.
