Art is how I process, resist, and rebuild my perception of the world. Turning lived experience into something that can be felt by others.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I create work that holds the body like a memory; photographs, glass, and film that turn lived experience into something luminous and unignorable. I’m drawn to transformation: turning fragility into strength, pain into image, silence into something that speaks. My favorite art is the kind that lets people feel seen in ways language can’t reach.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the quiet weight of being alive—in bodies, in resilience, in the spaces where identity is questioned or reshaped. In the people I love, in the ones we’ve lost, in the tension between visibility and safety. Inspiration arrives in fragments: light on skin, a story half-told, a moment that refuses to disappear. I find inspiration through my beloved trans friends, and through my own experience as a trans man and being a person of color.
What would you do with $25,000?I would build space, physical and emotional, for art to exist without fear. I’d invest in creating work that honors marginalized lives, expand my practice across mediums, and fund projects that bring people together through image and story. Not just to make art, but to make room for voices, for healing, for something lasting. My dream is to open a sober living home for artists in recovery with an emphasis on the queer community.
