I create art to build myself a language. To investigate experiences, and discover ways to bring what’s internal outside of myself.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Truthfully my favorite art to create is anything that involves other people. I think collaboration is where life’s real nectar is. My drawing, I suppose it’s a collaboration between my wrist and space. It’s how I come home to myself-I give myself no guard rails. I let the pen move and try to leave myself alone.
Where do you find inspiration? In adoration. In adoring people, tasks, memories. In learning how to adore the world around and within me. In silliness. I take silliness very seriously. And in dissatisfaction. I am powered by what troubles me. I don’t know how to be indifferent, so I create.
What would you do with $25,000?Oh man. With $25,000 I could produce the play that I co-wrote — one I believe in deeply, as do the artists who’ve given their time and talent to bring it to life. This dark comedy invites us to laugh with grief, shame, and loneliness. This money would let me pay these artists what they deserve, and give play the production it’s earned. It’s my offering — to the collaborators who built it with me, and to anyone who’s ever needed permission to laugh at something that also broke their heart.
