I grew up spending my summers in Montana with my grandfather who painted nose art on planes in WW2. We would ride horses and then paint them
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My art grew from my love of horses. My grandfather was Montana cowboy, so I started with Western scenes. My love of horses took me throughout history. I fell in love with the pre-Raphaelites, and though not of their time, William Bougereau. Like him, I grew a love of painting myths and legends. I studied Latin and loved mythology. From there my love of 80s Fantasy and The Last Unicorn pulled me into the fantastical of dragons and noble deeds.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from many different sources but I sometimes will paint full paintings in my dreams only to wake up and have to start over. Sometimes I am inspired by those around me or stories I write. But as Antoine Bourdelle said, “The secret of art is love”. I am always my most prolific when I fall in love, whether it be with a person, a subject, or a story.
What would you do with $25,000?Currently I am struggling with my health, and have been. It may not sound glamorous, but I could really use help with medical bills. But what I would very much like to do is build a studio where I can work in peace. I was attacked in my studio once and very much need a safe place to create again.
