I’ve done it since I was a little girl. I wouldn’t know how—or why—to live without doing it.

Painting with mixed media and collage.
Where do you find inspiration?I often get it from weird things that I hear or read, like a reference to an alligator’s funeral. I’m gathering images for that one now. Sometimes I do a series on a certain subject that I’m excited about. One was on the Old West. I’ve just started working on a series about Time. Time, like a river, is always there. Time is not a flowing river carrying everything from past to future. Time is not a river flowing one direction only, it is an ocean and you can swim in every direction.
What would you do with $25,000?First, Breathe. It would help to support me in my final effort to make a living by my artwork only. After a lifetime of doing something else (graphic design & commercial writing) because since I was a teenager, people have been hammering at me—strangers stopping me on the street to say, “You know you can’t expect to make a living as an artist.” Now in my last score of years, I’m taking the leap and I’m doing it full time. $25,000 would certainly help!
