My artwork is the language I use to communicate and connect with others.

I create highly personal oil paintings, mixed-media sculptures, and installations which are grounded in my experiences as a woman, mother, sister, widow, and wife. I am using these parts of my identity to connect emotionally with others. I depict human, plant, and animal forms as symbols in a shared language of love, grief, joy and pain.
Where do you find inspiration?Working in a realistic style requires research and investigation. I have studied the human form for over thirty years and it always reveals new truths to me. I also study plants and animals and am constantly amazed by the beauty and intelligence found in the natural world. I am also inspired by contemporary and ancient stories as well as real events.
What would you do with $25,000?I would like to create an immersive installation using mixed media sculptures, sound design and costume design whereby the audience becomes part of the exhibit.
