I create art because I'm the first person in my family who started feeling differently and expressing my reality through art.

I am Cuban, and coming from a colorful and expressive Caribbean culture, I have dedicated myself to exploring everything from realism to abstraction because art is about resilience and constant renewal. Hence the premise of my work: originality stems from contemporaneity and the artistic evolution of our times. Art is lived experience, catharsis, and hope!
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration is the fuel that drives the engine of art, the creative process! It manifests itself through the individual's personal experiences; and in my case, I am driven by my family, my country, my culture, my music, and my stories. The foundation of my creations stems from a deep-rooted research into the works of artists throughout art history, an essential reference point for the development of my own work.
What would you do with $25,000?I am an artist trained in Cuba under a communist dictatorship, where creating art freely is a matter of life or death. Today I live freely in Canada, and my art thrives without censorship. But my 17-year-old daughter is a talented artist who remains trapped on that small Caribbean island. If I won $25,000, I would do everything in my power to bring her to me and support her artistic talent and her philosophy of life in freedom!
