Making art is about telling stories. Each painting is an opportunity to pull a thought out of thin air and make it tangible. I love that.

I like to create multi layered works of art. From collaged graffiti inspired paintings to textured minimalist works. Incorporating many different materials into my compositions. Each element is like an emotion or train of thought, often playing out as a series. These paintings are mostly abstract with some realistic symbolism.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere. I have created series of paintings inspired by literature, music and current events. The moodiness of jazz is a recurring thread that runs through my work, as is the emotion of things happening in the moment. From a storm blowing thru to leftover feelings from a movie watched the night before. Nothing is off the table.
What would you do with $25,000?I had a health scare in 2024 that left me with a somewhat cautious outlook that has forced me to pace myself in a way that I would not have otherwise considered. It is important that I continue to stay positive and do my work and at the same time find a way to embrace my new normal. If I were to receive the 25,000 award I would be frugal with it. Use some of it to secure my working space for the foreseeable future, and lessen the worry factor of my current situation.
