I create fiber and textile art as a way to slow down and truly see the world around me. Through fabric, thread, and texture, I’m drawn, especially to landscapes – capturing quiet moments, shifting light, and the beauty often overlooked in everyday life. Each piece is both an exploration and a reminder to myself to appreciate what we have, to find calm in the process, and to celebrate the richness and serenity that surrounds us.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from the quiet beauty of everyday life – open fields, changing seasons, and the subtle shifts of light across familiar landscapes. I find ideas in places I’ve been and moments I want to hold onto a little longer. Nature, memory, and observation guide my work, and through fabric and thread I translate those impressions into something lasting, allowing me to revisit and share the sense of peace and wonder I experience.
What would you do with $25,000?If selected, I would use the award to support both family and community. I would help ease the burden of my grandchildren‘s college loans, giving them a stronger start in life. I would also continue supporting the charitable causes and events I’m involved in, giving back to the community that has given me so much. This opportunity would allow me to extend the blessings I’ve received and make a meaningful difference beyond my own work.
