Art is my language to heal, to find moments of Awe. It is my language of colors, emotions, history and culture all combined to express life.

I love to create new abstract worlds and elicit experiences through my art work. My art is lively and colorful based in my rich cultural foundations. I was born in Mexico and raised in Southern California. I pull from these foundations to form and shape highlighting bright colors. My art tells stories as much as it highlights culture. I celebrate being a woman both as a muse but also as a creative artist. Symbols thrive in our culture that must be reshaped through art.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from the dichotomy of grief and joy. The feeling of grief comes from suddenly losing my husband 7 years ago and my joy comes from my children. I have experienced these extremes in my life which compel me to find moments of awe. Moments of awe in art are created when the viewer is captured in the feeling. Awe can be emotions which are expressed through a rainbow of colors, shapes and fugures. Awe and glimmers are what I create in my art and share with my audience.
What would you do with $25,000?I am an emerging artist. I am a sole parent and provider. I am still working to support my kids and my art. I have a dream to do an artist residency in a beautiful inspiring location. I would then love to showcase the art I create at the residency at one of the prestigious Art Basel or similar artist forums. Sharing my art in one of these venues would be a dream come true as an artist, latina immigrant, widow and mother. Sharing my art with the world through this venue is a true gift.
