My favorite work to create is mixed media, predominantly glass. I’m drawn to the material’s alchemical nature and its ability to capture light, pattern, and texture. I’m increasingly interested in pushing scale through installation, expanding beyond object-based work to create immersive environments. Moving forward, I aim to challenge the physical limits of glass and explore more ambitious, large-scale forms.
Where do you find inspiration?I draw inspiration from flora and fauna, design, technology, music, and science. I’m particularly interested in how natural systems, material processes, and human made structures intersect, informing work that explores transformation, pattern, and the relationship between organic and constructed environments.
What would you do with $25,000?With this funding, I will create a large-scale installation titled “Glaspens,” a forest of glass aspens exploring light and transformation. Support will fund studio time and assistants to realize this long-developed project. I will also offer 50 free glassblowing classes to students who could not otherwise access this cost-prohibitive, transformative art form.
