My work centers on portraiture, the human figure, and still life, grounded in the discipline of classical academic painting.

Painting, drawing, sculpture. Mixing modern and academic styles. Through rigorous study of anatomy, drawing, and light, I pursue structural clarity and faithful representation. For me, technical mastery is not merely aesthetic—it reflects time, study, and respect for the subject. The visible evidence of discipline is essential to the integrity of the work.
Where do you find inspiration?Growing up in Cuba within a politically manipulated environment sharpened my awareness of constructed narratives and distorted realities. This experience informs my engagement with social criticism and historical memory. Through classical language and contemporary consciousness, I examine identity, power, and the enduring structure of human experience.
What would you do with $25,000?The $25,000 grant will become the heartbeat of a long-held vision: a studio where art is created, shared, and taught. It will be a welcoming space for the community, free of judgment, where people of all backgrounds can gather and grow through creativity. Here, students will learn not only technique, but confidence and voice. This will be a place devoted to discipline, expression, and the belief that art can connect, uplift, and transform lives.
