What connects me to an energy flow that initiates a piece: Irrational answers, an awakened desire, like a poem. I make art because I must.

Receive Text UpdatesMy favorite art form to create begins with drawing, often followed by layers of oil, or acrylic, or watercolor with powdered pigments, or encaustic. Starting with a drawing allows the beauty of the line to remain present throughout the piece, creating a dynamic blend of techniques. By combining drawing with various painting mediums, I'm able to explore texture, color, and form in a richer, more expressive way-each medium bringing its own unique and playful qualities.
Where do you find inspiration?A few months ago, I attended a performance at the philharmonic. The piece I listened to alluded to Don Quixote, and my mind immediately started wandering through images from when I was first introduced to the story. I am still masticating on the idea; I bought the books again, both in Spanish, my native tongue, and in English. Next step is to navigate through all the images and feelings the piece evokes. I will be creating large drawings with force and passion. This will be my 4th body this year
What would you do with $25,000?With this funding, I will have the resources and space to create without stress. It will enable me to continue rebuilding my studio, which has been broken into three times. Additionally, I plan to return to my favorite city, Venice, Italy, for a short visit to experience the Biennale. I also envision creating a series inspired by Don Quixote on aluminum or aluminum coated paper, as it will be the perfect medium for this theme.
