When I completed my first painting that actually felt like me and my voice, everything clicked. I had felt like I finally found my outlet.

Whatever is in my head that I can’t seem to get out with just words.. it usually falls under the category of expressionism. I’ve always looked at paintings like stories. I love the type of art that isn’t perfect lines, the piece that you really have to look at for a minute to find more and really study it and sit back and be confused. One of my favorite parts about creating is that nobody has to understand it but myself. Like little hidden messages.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere, everyday.. from mundane things, to going down amazing rabbit holes of my inspirations like Basquiat and Picasso. Music is also and always has been a huge one. Music is art. Artists are one. It’s pretty amazing. I have to blast music when I paint. I love jazz and hip hop, blues, soul.. music makes you feel and really make something beautiful on the canvas. I love the way the oil stick feels like drawing with lipstick and you can just scribble lyrics
What would you do with $25,000?I would pay off some of my student loans, and then use the rest to move into an apartment with my best friend where I can create amazing art and get vivid inspiration from the gritty art of the lower east side. I would stock up on studio supplies. Really upgrade everything. Make my space even more my own. The freedom would mean so much.
