Quarter-Finalist

Lyla Doss

My art shows others a brighter reality. I create zoomed in pieces of the beauty of life and the things around. The things overlooked.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create vibrant realism pieces with smooth blending and flow. I like adding detail that might be missed in others artwork that I like to incorporate. I love painting flowers the most, adding dramatic characteristics that make it stand out more. My go to paint is acrylic although I do like to create different pieces with all types of mediums.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration by thinking on all the times I have doubted myself or thought I wouldn't pull through something. I often feel disappointed in myself when I forget to look at the beauty in life and notice all of the little things so while I paint I try to capture those things. I use my paintings as a reminder to myself and others of what is right infront of you and how magnificent it can be if you just take a closer look.

What would you do with $25,000?

I will soon be off to college at the Savannah College of Art and Design and would use that money for my future career and passion while also taking care of my family. My main goals in life are simple, I want to be successful in an industry that I love with my whole heart, while also being able to care for the people I love most. $25,000 is a huge deal for me and my family, it is something you dont take for granted.
