I love to create art bcs its therapy. At home it’s my sanctuary — a nice daydream of joyful travel memories away from busy NYC lifestyle.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite creation is hands-on mixed-media with glue, staples, and paint. I make textiles and canvases like my orange tree with rainbow water. I use pieces from the US, Caribbean, and Mexico. Each one sends me into a daydream — messy, colorful, full of joyful travel memories I can touch.
Where do you find inspiration? In escape. NYC is loud, but my home is my sanctuary. I’m inspired by Florida beaches, Oaxaca markets, and Jamaican culture in the US. Like Bisa Butler’s memory quilts and Johnny Depp’s raw portraits, I turn travel into touchable art. My textile mat and orange tree canvas carry beachy warmth — sandy golds, faded aqua, sun-kissed color. Creating turns memories into a peaceful daydream I can hold.
What would you do with $25,000?Winning $25K will empower me to create even more "Peaceful Places" art, allowing me to transform memories into serenity. I also envision opening a painting studio in my community where everyone is welcome to come, express themselves, and find joy through painting. It will serve as a therapeutic escape, providing a much-needed relief from stress.
