Lynette Hulse

I make art to process emotions, expressing life’s most challenging and beautiful moments into something I can see and feel. It’s how I cope.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Mixed media and acrylic especially work that blends painting with texture and natural elements. I’m drawn to layering materials and meaning, letting each piece evolve intuitively rather than following a strict plan.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration when I take moments to pause. It’s very meditative for me. I can lose track of time in a way that feels restorative. I started creating during a dark time in my life as a way to cope, and it’s remained a powerful tool for processing and releasing emotion, turning my experiences into something meaningful.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would use the funds to rent a studio space outside of my home. I’m currently in the process of selling my house and letting go of my home studio, and I’m ready for a shift. I want to create more in a shared, public environment. I find real value in making work around other artists. For years, I worked quietly at home while my children slept, but my life has changed. Having a dedicated daytime studio would give me consistency, community, and the space to grow further as an artist.
