I fell in love with writing in the 5th grade. Writing short stories gave me a reason to get out of bed. Today, as an 18 year old, I have my first novel, The Mirror of Narcissus, published on Amazon, as well as several poems published in local and national anthology like The Ink and YoungArts. Writing gives me a way to translate the thoughts many refuse to say out loud.
Where do you find inspiration?I think as an artist, your inspiration is primarily driven by passion; it’s somewhat of a given to me. However, I take great inspiration from the greatest of artists. Figures like Maya Angelou, William Faulkner, Kendrick Lamar, Toni Morrison and many others inspire me deeply because I aspire to achieve their respective levels of mastery in my own writing and craft.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use that money to pay for college and promote my work. As a recent debutant author, $25,000 would be huge as it relates to promotion and getting the word out. As for college, it’s very important to me that I get a good education and improve on my craft as much as I can when the opportunity is within arm’s reach.
