It's who I am. It's this amazing process where I communicate with myself honestly. It's spiritual. It's fun, it's messy, it's discovery.

I love to use charcoal. I like physically connecting with the media and the paper I am putting it on. There is no separation between myself and the art, not even a brush. I draw intuitively, no plan or image in mind. I push and pull the charcoal, and erase until that which needs to be seen emerges. It usually a mix of two worlds, the physical and the spiritual. It's a dialogue between what I know and feel and what I am trying to discover and understand.
Where do you find inspiration?People's stories. Their pain. Their questions. Their beliefs. My life and all the rambling thoughts in my head. Travel! Travel is so inspiring. Art podcasts. Looking at other works. Talking to artists. Street murals. I think sometimes everything I see I can put a mental frame around and think, "that would make a great drawing." The way light filters through the blinds in the morning. The spiderweb on the trail early in the morning. My kids laughter. EVERYTHING.
What would you do with $25,000?Beyond getting caught up on bills I'd enroll in a painting class to keep pushing myself. I'd build a big studio to work on and have space for my family who is always creating also. I'd travel to more art.
