Art is my spirituality—how I express, exist, experience, and connect with the universe.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favourite kind of art is when inspiration hits so hard it needs to come out. I start with an overload of ideas and possibilities, then get lost in the flow for hours. Even when I step away, I am still thinking and dreaming about it. When it is done, I see myself in it. Creating across a spectrum of colours, composing, and trusting the process, then turning it into something that moves me (and hopefully others) emotionally and visually is my favourite part.
Where do you find inspiration?Nature is one of my biggest inspirations, the colours, the forms, and the lessons we learn from the universe and what it brings. Taking artistic liberties also inspires me. I feel powerful and transcendent when I create with intention, making art that can be more than what is. The possibilities feel limitless, and I feel blessed to create something from nothing.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had 25k, I would use it to give myself the time and space I have been struggling to access as a student while working. I would take time off and fully immerse myself in my art practice, focusing on building a cohesive body of work that feels true to me. I want to explore and develop my style, and really let my ideas unfold into work that represents who I am becoming as an artist.
