I create art to process feelings, notice everyday beauty, and hold on to memories.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love all kinds of art! I was a professional ballet dancer, so movement has always been my first love. When injuries eventually made it impossible to continue, I turned to oil painting. They’re very different forms of expression, but they give me the same sense of purpose, to move people emotionally through my work. I love that I’ve been able to carry that same intention from dance into painting, and continue expressing it through everything I create!
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from different places, depending on the stages I’ve gone through in life. My younger self was a daydreamer. I imagined everything. Now that I’m older, I find myself trying to capture memories. Lately, I’ve been looking up at the sky with a strange, grounding feeling of how small we are in the universe, not in a negative way. It’s something I hope to explore when I finish my current wok!
What would you do with $25,000?I plan to invest in taking more courses to expand my knowledge and skills. I also want to pause commissions for a bit so I can focus on creating my own personal work.
